Your privacy matters. This policy explains how FLA Behavioral Health collects, uses, and protects information connected with this website and our online-only therapy practice serving clients located in Florida.

FLA Behavioral Health is operated by Sasha Madrigal MSW, Registered Clinical Social Work Intern, License No. ISW22657 (collectively, "FLA Behavioral Health," "we," "us," or "our"). The practice provides private-pay psychotherapy services under the supervision of Milagros Garcia, License No. SW19836.

1. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to information collected through flabehavioralhealth.com, including information you provide when you contact us or request information. It also describes, at a high level, how information is handled in connection with therapy services.

Clinical records and communications may be subject to additional protections under Florida and federal law, professional ethics, informed-consent documents, and any separate Notice of Privacy Practices we provide. This website policy does not replace those documents.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, and the content of a message you send.
  • Scheduling and intake information, such as appointment preferences and information you submit through a secure scheduling, intake, telehealth, or client-portal provider.
  • Payment information. Because the practice is private pay, payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider. We generally do not receive or store your complete payment-card number.
  • Clinical information, such as intake forms, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, communications, and other records created or received in providing therapy.
  • Basic website information, such as IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages visited, and approximate location inferred from an IP address, if this information is collected by our hosting, security, or analytics services.

Please do not include sensitive health information in a standard website form, text message, or ordinary email unless we have specifically told you that the method is secure.

3. How we use information

We may use information to:

  • respond to inquiries and determine whether our services may be an appropriate fit;
  • schedule and provide online therapy to eligible clients who are physically located in Florida at the time of service;
  • maintain clinical and business records;
  • process private-pay fees and send receipts or service-related communications;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website and client experience;
  • meet supervision, professional, legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations; and
  • protect the safety, rights, and property of clients, the practice, and others.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use therapy information for third-party advertising.

4. When information may be shared

We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:

  • With your authorization, including when you ask us to coordinate with another provider or person.
  • For clinical supervision, with the qualified supervisor responsible for oversight of services provided by the Registered Clinical Social Work Intern.
  • With service providers, such as secure telehealth, electronic-record, scheduling, payment, email, hosting, and technology vendors that support practice operations and are expected to protect the information they handle.
  • As required or permitted by law, which may include valid legal process, professional oversight, mandatory reporting, or disclosures needed to address a serious and imminent safety concern.
  • For business protection, when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security incidents, or misuse of the website.

As a private-pay practice, we do not submit claims to health insurers. If you request documentation to seek out-of-network reimbursement, you are responsible for deciding whether and how to submit it, and an insurer may require clinical information.

5. Online therapy and third-party services

Therapy, scheduling, forms, client messaging, payment, or recordkeeping may be provided through third-party platforms. Their privacy practices may also apply when you use their services. We select providers with privacy and security in mind, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

To support privacy during online therapy, use a private location, a device you control, a password-protected network, and headphones when appropriate. Do not record a session unless everyone involved has given advance written permission.

6. Cookies and website analytics

This website or its hosting provider may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for security, performance, and basic functionality. If analytics are enabled, they may provide aggregated or general usage information. We do not intentionally place protected clinical information into website analytics or advertising tools.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website functions.

7. Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy and to satisfy applicable clinical-record, legal, tax, insurance, supervision, and professional obligations. Retention periods vary by the type of information and the law that applies.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information. These may include access controls, strong authentication, encrypted services, secure record systems, software updates, vendor review, and privacy-focused procedures. Even with safeguards, no method of electronic transmission or storage is risk-free.

9. Your choices and privacy requests

You may contact us to ask about the personal information we maintain about you or to request access, correction, restriction, or deletion. Some requests may be limited by clinical-record requirements, legal obligations, professional standards, or another person's privacy rights. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

You may opt out of nonessential communications at any time. Appointment, billing, safety, and other service-related communications may still be necessary while you are a client.

10. Children's privacy

This website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 through this website without appropriate parent or legal-guardian involvement. If you believe a child has submitted information to us improperly, please contact us.

11. External links

This website may link to other websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of third parties. Review their privacy notices before providing information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices, technology, or legal obligations change. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise required by law.
